Introduction Inka Trail

The Inca Trail Trek is the most expectacular trek in the andes of Peru. Alexa’s Cusco Trek is well known as one of Peru’s best Inca Trail trek specialists – we’re always listed among the top three agencies. In addition to the classic four days trek, we offer a variety of trekking options to Machupicchu. The classic four days trek tour is offered from March through January and the Trail is closed during the month of February. However, our other Machupicchu programs are offered the year round.

Space on the Inca Trail is now limited; only 500 trekkers and support staff within the entire Park system on some given day. In order to get a guaranteed space, we need to receive your deposit; booking information and exact departure date for the Trail as soon as possible (having alternate dates is a good idea). We recommend booking at least 60 days prior to your desired starting date, and 90 days during the high season of May - August.

We offer our passengers two service options: private and group.
Private Service gives you the option of creating a trip more to your taste. You can tailor such things as group make-up (i.e. only native English/French/German speakers), set tour starting times (when possible), change itineraries, etc. With groups of three or more, it makes sense to choice private service as prices are in a good average
.
Group service treks (minimum of two passengers) are a way of offering a more economical package option. Both private and group services are operated exclusively by Alexa’s Cusco Trek; we don’t pass on our passengers to other agencies.
Don’t forget you need at least 2 days to acclimatize to Cusco’s high altitude.

Optional: if you would like to spend an extra day in Machupicchu, please advise us so we can change the dates of the return train ticket back to Cusco.Alexa’s Cusco Trek can provide a guide and hotel for the extra day at an additional cost. Let us know about it.

IMPORTANT NEW TRAIL REGULATIONS & NOTES:
(Please note the INC have just announced on Dec 2005,)

1. A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE CAN ENTER THE INCA TRAIL EVERYDAY AND HIKERS REQUIRE PERMITS OBTAINED IN ADVANCE BY A LICENSED TOUR OPERATOR TO DO SO.(Only 200 hikers Daily)
2. YOUR PASSPORT DETAILS AND ISIC STUDENT CARD IF APPLICABLE MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE UGM PARK CONTROL TO OBTAIN A TREKKING PERMIT. YOU MUST SCAN / FAX YOUR VALID ISIC CARD AT THE TIME OF BOOKING AND CARRY THESE DOCUMENTS ON THE TRAIL OR RISK LOOSING YOUR PERMIT. YOUTH TRAVEL CARD OR ISTC IS NOT ACCEPTED BY THE CONTROL. ( Please send us your Names & Numbers as is mentioned in your Passport )
3. WE HAVE DAILY DEPARTURES FOR THE 4 DAYS INCA TRAIL (EXCEPT IN FEBRUARY ) AND FROM MAY TO OCTOBER (HIGH SEASON) YOU NEED TO CONFIRM YOUR BOOKING AT LEAST 3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE IF YOU DO NOT HAVE FLEXIBILITY IN A DEPARTURE DATE.
4. FOR LOWER SEASON DATES NOV TO APRIL THERE ARE OFTEN MANY DATES WITH PERMITS AVAILABLE SO JUST MAKE YOUR RESERVATION THROUGH THE WEBSITE.
